* Generic McAnime Fighting Game (often post-2000. * Waifu Fighters (all female casts, often in sexy outfits) * MK knockoff (mannnnnnny games on the heels of MK. * Mech Fighter (much rarer- way harder to draw) * Samurai Shodown knock-off (most are lacking character- coming on heels of SS1 but again, primitive) * SF knockoff, but more SNK-flavored (many Neo*Geo ones) Often made the first generation of SNES games) * Street Fighter knock-off (basic, often poorly done and primitive as it's the first set of real knockoffs. * MS DOS/PC weapon-based fighters (like above, but with knights, samurais, etc.) * MS DOS/PC fighters (stick figures/outlines/other primitive stuff) It looks like there are several "types" of 2D fighting games: So I was going over some of the "Fighting Game Master List" in the Discord, and I've noticed some trends. it's one of the last big sets I have to do for Marvel- the Cosmic Hero Builds!! In this set, you'll see the Micronauts, Guardians of the Galaxy (old & new), Adam Warlock, plus the infamous Thanos! Any of the "fan-made" games or "Waifu Fighters" nobody's ever heard of. My "Fighting Game List" is pretty intimidating, though features a LOT of stuff I'll probably never end up getting to, unless I'm doing this thread for the next 50 years or so. Next Up: Some digging through my Fighting Game list, just finding some more "Primitive Fighters" from the C64/Amiga/MS-DOS era- that'll knock several off my master list and only take about a day. * I left out Hercules & The Buzzard until the last second, having noticed them on that Mighty Crusaders fansite. * Said forgotten Golden Age guys just had "only the description" profiles until I remembered that I had a Marvel Golden Ager Template that was perfectly acceptable for an Archie hero, too. So I actually had to make smaller profiles for the successor characters, as well as the forgotten Golden Age guys. * The original set I did was JUST the actual Mighty Crusaders themselves- at least the guys who still appeared in Archie Digest rosters (dropping Miracle Man, Press Guardian, Green Cobra, Falcon & Green Falcon). Like, if you're gonna just make up a whole new character, why even use the old name at all? Surely "The Comet" and "The Fox" don't really have a whole lot of cultural cache. Like, that there are 4-5 versions of the majority of the major characters is really damning- it makes the various companies who take a shot with these guys look rather foolish. It took me a good, sweet amount of time to actually get to that point- I don't find them terribly interesting characters as a whole, but they're interesting to talk ABOUT- they had a measure of impact on the Golden Age of Comics, particularly the superhero aspect- it's just a weird bit of luck that they fell completely out of fashion and yet never made their way back as Marvel, DC & Fawcett's characters did. And with that, we've reached the end of my Mighty Crusaders builds!
